Why choose Hukafalls Jet?
3 Reasons to choose this experience
- Exclusive Access: We are the sole provider permitted to take you up close to the base of the Falls, offering a unique and unforgettable experience that sets us apart from the rest.
- Proven Track Record: Established in 1990, we have grown from a humble one-man shack to a cutting-edge gold-certified Qualmark New Zealand service provider. Our extensive experience speaks volumes about the quality of service you can expect from Hukafalls Jet.
- Safety and Expertise: Benefit from our industry-leading safety measures and rigorous training requirements. Our drivers are local experts who navigate the area with unmatched skill and knowledge of the conditions.
Our local experienced drivers
Our drivers undergo more than double the 50 required hours of training on the water before being able to operate a commercial trip. They are incredibly skilled at their jobs, and are full of personality – sure to make your trip on the Hukafalls Jet a highlight during your Taupō adventure.
We are pretty good at this jet boat thing – we’re in them 365 days a year after all… even on Christmas! So we can answer your questions, even if you are after a lunch recommendation or tips on other things to do in the area. Our team are all locals and loving the Taupō region – so they will be able to point you in the right direction.
Your safety is paramount to our team
At Hukafalls Jet, we don’t have an age limit to participate – but we do require all guests to be at least 1 meter (or 39 inches) tall for safety purposes. Life jackets are of course compulsory – and we have a full range from small children’s sizes up to XXXXL. If you have questions about life jacket sizing, do get in touch with a member of our team, who will be happy to assist you.
This is a legendary jet boat adventure – and at speeds of up to 80kmph, one that will get your adrenaline racing, which is why we have to recommend that pregnant people abstain from participating in the jet boat experience. Our staff will be happy to recommend some less intense experiences in the area that showcase the stunning Huka Falls.
Whatever the weather...
...Expect to get wet!
We are lucky that here in Taupō it doesn’t rain very open, because heavy rain is the only weather we don’t operate in! When it does rain, it usually is only for short spells and we can get you out on a jet boat ride at some point.
But, whatever the weather, we highly recommend wearing a rain jacket if you don’t want to get wet - because a bit of spray from Huka Falls is inevitable!
Please don’t wear a cap or anything with a visor – they’ll blow off as soon as we take the first spin! We have lockers where you can store these and your cameras (which aren’t permitted).
Shoes are required year-round – no exceptions. We also recommend a hair tie for those with long hair… or you’ll get a complimentary blow wave you won’t love.
In summer, you’ll want sunblock and sunglasses, and in winter it’s best to rug up!
Travelling through last minute?
Not a problem!
You can book a jet boat experience up to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time, however, 72 hours' notice is required for online combo products. If you do want a combo package within 72 hours, it is best to give us a call at 0800 485 253 – and we will do our best to get you set up with an adventure.
Since booking numbers can be a bit unpredictable (and we have minimums for some jet boat tours) please ensure you leave an email or phone number where we can contact you if your booking requires rescheduling.
Arrive to check in at Hukafalls Jet no later than 15 minutes before your scheduled departure to ensure you don’t miss your trip!
